I had a chance to meet up with Psycho Les from the Beatnuts at their release party. A lot of times you can never tell what type of vibe an artist in on. But, Psycho Les was cool from the get go, showing us much love.
While most rappers develop a persona to help sell records. Not Conejo, what you see is what you get. I've gotten a chance to know Conejo well over the past couple of years. One thing about Conejo is that he's always of the real. Some might like or hate him for always speaking his mind. Regardless of what you think of him you have to recognized he has raw talent when he's behind the microphone. What he raps about is what he sees and knows from growing up in his neighborhood in West Los Angeles.
I was present for the photo shoot of "Crime Stories" album by G-Fellas. The group consisted
of Latin Rap pioneers O.G.enius (left), Slow Pain (middle), and A.L.T.(right) from the G-Spot/Hit a Lick camp. G-Fellas released a follow up album to "Crime Stories" titled "Gangsters 4 Life".
O.D.M. (One Dope Mexican) of Lighter Shade of Brown fame is one of the
most multifaceted artist in the industry. From rapping on some of the biggest Latino radio
hits such as "Latin Active" and "On A Sunday Afternoon" to underground classics like
"TJ Nights". O.D.M. is also producing beats and has his own label called "Brown Royal".
By night he's a radio personality for 99.1 in the Inland Empire/Riverside area of Southern California.
