DJ Jonta - El Gran Juicio Final

DJ Jonta is at it once again for El Juicio Final, the latest installment is a 18 track Street Album from Mexico's most respected DJ and turntablist, the perfect follow up to his "Se Buskan" mixtape series. Unlike his previous projects El Juicio Final highlights DJ Jonta's underground production work. The piece includes a collaboration line up raging from his group the Caballeros Del Plan G, as well as other GLokos like Sekreto, and Super Dher of the Dilettantes. What I really enjoyed is the choose of emcee's from outside the GL camp, specifically Sadeck de Ckasta Ache and Padre Anderson.

The CD begins with a dark sample drum-esque as a old school intro with very hardcore scratches and immediately sets things off right with a local emcee from La Comarca Lagunera known as W Kronico on "Rap Dinamica". While the first 5 minutes set it off landscape for what to expect. This is also where it takes a unexpected turn. On the title track DJ Jonta puts his turntables to the side as he jumps behind the mic to record his first rap song. Some find it a questionable move for DJ Jonta, but the fact is that his song isn't half bad and he can follow in the foot steps of other turntablist turned emcee like Rock Steady Crew's Tony Touch.

From there, it begins to pick up steam a bit, with a series of classic Hip-Hop beats, the song "Pseudo De Jonta" by el Padre Anderson one of the many hidden talents of Mexico's underground movement, is one of the tracks to be on the lookout for. From there, the mix sort of takes on a life of its own, going in several different directions of classic GL songs, like "Botas Y Tarolas" by Caballeros Del Plan G featuring Soez and "Un Motivo" by Sekreto. Another nice remix is Jonta's Hardcore mix of "Canto A Mi Raza" performed by Javu and DJ Blunt. Which is a nice tribute to Mexican culture. Unlike any other project before it, "El Juicio Final" captures the true spirit of Mexico's nation wide movement. One producer units and works with emcee's from across Mexico, ragging with artists from Baja California to Yucatan and everywhere in between. This street album leaves you wondering what else can be found deep in the underground of Mexico and in particularly what lays in the future of Caballeros Del Plan G's DJ Jonta?
