2MEX aka SONGODSUNS - Over the Counter Culture
One of Latin Hip-Hop's lyrical heavyweights is back with the verbal dosage
for all the hardcore hip-hoppers that are tired of these placebo rappers that
are saturating the corporate controlled air-waves with pop music. 2MEX, like a
young Al Pacino (The Godfather 1 and 2, Scarface, etc.) perfects his art form in
multiple roles from a solo artist, to being a member of legendary underground
group the VISIONARIES, to being one half of the socially conscience OMD (Of
Mexican Descent) with rhyme partner Xololanxinxo. Constantly evolving and
working on new material with or without a crew, 2MEX is back with his sixth solo
album in the last five years under the moniker of SONGODSUNS, his hard-edged
alter ego.
The
�Over the Counter Culture� album is an unadulterated ride along the jagged edge of hip-hop music, and a journal entry into the bleeding heart of the SONGODSUNS. Proving this Los Angeles native as one of today's most relevant emcees on his most cohesive and groundbreaking work to date. Not since the old ICE CUBE (Amerikkka's Most Wanted, Death Certificate, etc.) has a Los Angeles-based emcee poured his soul onto a record, inviting listeners into a cycle of emotional turmoil both on the inner city streets and within ourselves internally. From the mosh-igniting "Once Again," The sonically-moving "Minors into Fire" or the heart-wrenching "I Didn't Mean to Touch Your Hand," 2MEX paints vivid pictures with his magical wordplay and a razor-sharp delivery.
2MEX is a sophisticated lyricist, whose flow and lyrics invites repeated plays to pick up on different meanings (coded messages) as the music production (Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Babu the Dilated Junkie, DJ Khalil, Life Rexall, Omid, and many more) will have your head nodding in approval.
